Merry Christmas...

I know I've been really bad about keeping up this blog...I'm very sorry about that! But since Facebook came along, I don't even think about it. But I promise to do better :)

That being said, here's whats been happening at the Hall House :)

Cady's growing like a weed! She has 10 teeth now, weighing about 24 lbs, height is 31 inches! She is talking like crazy and is such a hoot to listen to! She had Larry and I in stitches last weekend because she realized when she said "Ma" I would answer. So she'd say "Ma?", I'd answer "yes, Cady", then she'd reply with her jibber jabber. But was just as serious as could be with it! Her favorite thing in the world is a telephone. She'll snatch up a phone the second she sees one and talk away. Recently she hit redial and called her Papa! He loved it!

Besides for our little Ham, we are all doing pretty good. Just about ready for Christmas. Looks like it might be a white one this year! That would be so awesome!! We've got the tree up and some decorations on it...figured we wouldn't press our luck with many since Cady is into everything now.

I've included some Christmas pictures we had done this past weekend. Enjoy!

We have a toddler on our hands!

Yep, she finally did it...Cady turned one year old on Friday August 7th, 2009. She was very excited too! She had a wonderful birthday party with her friends and family on Saturday. And she was all about the smasher cakes!! We had a waterslide for the big kids, a smaller one for the little kids and 2 moonbounces. Food, food and more food!! It was a good day :) Here's some pictures from the party...enjoy!

All of the "toys" for the kiddos!

Countdown...

As unbelievable as it sounds, Cady will be one in a little over a week! I just want to cry every time I think about it...and I'm not a crying person! It seems like she has just grown up way to quickly.

She's walking and talking and dancing! She's got this great head bobbing thing that happens every time there is music playing. It's so cute that we'll get to dancing along with her. Her words are getting better and you can understand so much that she says now. Cady's favorite question is "waz tat?". She wants to know what everything is and how it works. Once you've explained it she is good to go and starts on the next thing. Her favorite drink is ice water, but Nanny & Papa sneak her sweet tea sometimes :) and her favorite snack is dog food. No we don't allow this but it does happen! I try to appease her with crunchies and they are fine until Madie starts rattling the bowl.

I'm going to make a list of her favorites and post them soon. I think that would be loads of fun to share.

Getting ready for the big first birthday party!! Very excited about this however, I wish it were further off. I don't want my baby to be a toddler just yet. I'll post some pictures of the party next weekend.

Until then, Happy Summer!

HoneyBee Swarm...

We were able to meet up with some new friends this past weekend in Charlottesville for a HoneyBee "Swarm". We have a great group on a message board and decided to get those of us who live close by together. We had a wonderful visit and made lots of new friends! Plus some yummy food and big fun with the horses!! Here a few shots of our fun...enjoy!

Cady, Harrison & Anya playing
Cady & Harrison...Cady loved his toys!

Cady loving on Mama :)

Big Girl!!

This was taken after Limerick (the horse) "kissed" Cady and then head butted her. I don't think she liked Limerick much after that :)

Daddy & Cady petting Limerick.

Daddy and Cady :)

Anya & Jamie posing on Zoey. She was a sweet mini horse.
We had a great time visiting and really can't wait to do it again.
As for Cady, she just had her 9 month appointment! She's 22.7 lbs and 28.5 inches!!! Finally got one "snaggle tooth" as Larry calls it. She's crawling everywhere and has recently started standing up by herself in the middle of the floor! Not even pulling up on anything! She loves music and has learned to "dance". She's got a nice vocabulary coming on...some of her favorites are dada (lately it really sounds more like daddy though), papa, mama, baba (which is funny because we never say baba to her, we always say bottle, so I don't know where she picked that up). Nanny is wondering why she hasn't said nanny yet (we are working on it!) but yesterday I would have sworn she said Cody!! Which is my parents dog! Nanny had a fit!! Cady batted her blue eyes and all was better :)
We're planning her first birthday party now...I want to cry just thinking about it! It's going to be huge!
Happy summer!

Two years...

It's really hard to believe that two years ago today I was sitting in a hospital room. Surrounded by people I'd known all of my life as well as people I'd never met. The room and hall was filled with people. All there for one common reason...Donna.

You see, Donna was my Dad's girlfriend. I always considered her my step mom because she was the only one who could put up with my dad's craziness. She'd stuck with him for over 10 years. She was a huge part of our lives and two years ago today, we all watched as she slipped away. She'd fought the cancer for 4 years and kicked it's butt. But then she had a cough that wouldn't go away and was hospitalized for pneumonia. She fought that for a couple of days. She was too weak to go any further. She passed around 9pm Saturday March 31st, 2007.

Donna loved many things...her birds, bunnies and flowers were just a few. She always made me laugh because she'd send me emails with funny pictures of my dad and the birds eating ice cream. She made my dad so happy. And that's all that mattered to me. She was my half-sister, Ashleigh, best friend. They looked forward to Ashleigh's visits for weeks.

At the memorial service, as I got up to the pulpit to speak, I looked around and saw the pews bursting with people. I remembered something my dad told me at the hospital and felt compiled to share it with everyone before I read my poem. I looked at my dad and said "While we were at the hospital on Saturday, Daddy told me that Donna didn't have many friends so it was nice of everyone to come and visit her like they had." I then said, "I hate to tell you this daddy but you lied...(insert audience chuckle here)...because this room is overflowing with people that loved Donna." I am glad that they laughed because that is what Donna would've wanted. She was always laughing with someone. She made the everyday better for everyone.

I'm closing this memory with the poem that I read at the service. It stays close to my heart and I hope that if you should need to, you will find comfort in it as I have many times.

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Cady's pictures are up!

Here's the link to look at Cady's 6 month pictures. She barely cracked a smile in any of them. She would between shots but not while the camera was "rolling''. Which is a surprise because she is such a ham with the camera! Hope you enjoy!
